INTRODUCTION TO
MICROSOFT PUBLISHER
Microsoft
Publisher is an application package designed by Microsoft Cooperation. It belongs to a big application known as
Microsoft Office/Office Suite. It is basically used for designing.
DEFINITION:- It can be defined as a publication
application package used in creating
different types of designs such as calendar, certificate, invitation cards,
hand bills/flyers, letter heading etc.
Note:-In Ms Publisher
a file is saved as publication.
STEPS TO LAUNCH

Click
on start button

SCREEN ELEMENTS
OF MICROSOFT PUBLISHER
1.
Title Bar:- It contains the file and program a user is
working with at a given time.
2.
Menu Bar:- It contains all the commands or instructions
used to communicate with publisher
3.
Standard Bar:- It is the most frequently used bar. It
contains shortcut commands which can be accessed easily without using the menu
bar.
4.
Formatting Bar:- It is a bar
used to beautify a workbook. It is also a shortcut bar.
5.
Tool Bar:- It is a bar used to manipulate graphics in
publisher..
6.
Horizontal &
Vertical Scroll Bar:-
These are bars used to navigate within an
environment.
7.
Status Bar:- It displays a
detailed information concerning the environment a user is working with.
8.
Editing Window:- It is an environment used for data
manipulation
9.
Task Bar:- It a bar that contains the start button with
date and time.
WAYS OF CREATING
A PUBLICATION
1.
Using wizard
publication:- This involves the user to follow the step by
step method for the publication processes.
2.
Using templates:- It contains already designed background which
a user can use to create a publication.
3.
Using existing
publication:- It is a method of editing an already existing
publication in order to produce a new design.
4.
Using blank
publication:- It requires the user to start from the
beginning for the publication processes. It has a blank page.
Note:-Among the above
mentioned ways of creating a publication, wizard publication will be used in
creating of calendars, letter heading, flyers, invitation cards, labels etc
while Blank publication will be used in creating of certificates and other
graphics.
STEPS TO DESIGN
A CALENDAR
1.
Click
on file menu
2.
Click
on new
3.
Click
on publication for print
4.
Click
on calendar
5.
Select
any calendar of your choice
6.
Select
monthly of yearly calendar
7.
Set
the date range
8.
Click
on ok
9.
Modify
the calendar by changing the font of the text

TO DESIGN A LETTER HEADING WITH WORD ART
1.
Click
on insert menu
2.
Click
on picture or Word Art
3.
Click
on Word Art
4.
Select
any Word Art shape of your choice
5.
Type
the text for the Word Art
6.
Modify
the Word Art

Click
on ok

TO INSERT A CLIPART
1.
Click
on insert menu

on picture

on clipart
4.
Under
search box, type the name of what you are searching and click on go

Or
click or organize clips, double click on office collection and then select any
folder that contains the picture you want

Then
copy and paste the picture in your working area.

TO MOVE A WORD ART OR CLIPART
1.
Right
click on the Word Art or clipart
2.
Click
on format Word Art or clipart
3.

on layout
4.
Click
on any text wrapping of your choice

on ok.

the drawing bar, click on autoshape

any category that contains the shape you want to insert e.g Basic shape

and drag on the working area to produce the object

a rectangular tool and draw

MASTER
PAGE:-This
is a command used to combine two different pages together.

on view menu and click on master page in order to combine the two pages
together.
